Students identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of a specific paragraph with the text. Students learn spelling patterns when writing words.
Student learning focuses on the concepts and skills for addition and subtraction with a special emphasis on place value. Students add and subtract within 100 and know from memory all sums of two one digit numbers, and solve a word problem using a math drawing.
Students in second grade as the students play instruments, sing, and create they continue to develop a connection and in depth understanding of the elements, including dynamics, beat, pitch, rhythm, melody, tempo, and meter.
This year is a special year as the students receive their First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation. Prayers: The Sign of the Cross, The Our Father, The Hail Mary, Grace and Mass responses. The students will learn the Act of Contrition.
